Today's myth on $ETH : a move back above $2,500 would mean spot ETF buyers are back.

The data say otherwise. According to Farside Investors, US spot Ether ETFs saw net outflows of $85.4M on October 12 (BlackRock ETHA -$75.1M, Grayscale Mini ETH -$10.3M). That's the 10th consecutive session of outflows since September 29, bringing the total to about -$782.8M.

Meanwhile, spot prices formed a V. On Kraken (1-hour candles), the overnight low was $2,406.71 at 00:00 UTC on October 13, before recovering to around $2,500 by 12:00 UTC. The Binance ETHUSDT mark price was around $2,502 at the same time.

During the same ETF session, $BTC US spot ETFs also saw outflows (-$65.4M from IBIT, according to Farside, reported on 10/13). So this isn't a case of “ETH being sold while BTC is spared.”

The prevailing interpretation: the reclaim of $2,500 is primarily a leverage unwind and a technical bounce after liquidations, not a return of institutional create/redeem activity. The “ETF buyers are back” narrative remains invalidated until the flow streak breaks.

Two paths lie ahead. If Farside flows return to around zero or turn positive in the next few sessions while spot holds above $2,500, the reclaim will have flow support. If an 11th red day arrives alongside a drop below around $2,450, the overnight V looks more like a short cover / relief bounce, and the $2,400 area becomes the pivot again.

For you, which signal matters most ahead of the US CPI on 10/14: an end to the $ETH ETF outflow streak, or simply the price holding above $2,500?
