Why is Ethereum’s gas fee split into a base fee and a tip?
The gas target for each block is half the gas limit, and the base fee can change by at most 12.5% per block.
Before EIP-1559, Ethereum used a first-price auction: users each submitted a gas price, and the entire bid went to the miners.
When managing positions, the most important thing to keep in mind is that the maximum fee shown in your wallet is only a cap. The actual amount you spent is the amount shown in the block explorer.
