There’s something more interesting than watching prices go up and down: seeing whether the market actually reacts when a news story breaks.

Franklin Templeton has also announced plans to put fund shares on-chain. The Wall Street asset management giant is officially joining the tokenization race. It’s big news, but don’t rush to call it bullish just yet. First, you need to figure out whether it’s a “new variable” or “old news.”

With a new variable, the market needs time to digest it, so the reaction comes gradually. Old news has already been priced in, and usually plays out in one move, with nothing more to follow.

How can you tell the difference? See whether trading volume moves along with the news. If the price moves first and the news comes later, it’s probably just an explanation after the fact. If the news breaks first and the price doesn’t budge, that’s the market voting with its feet.

So don’t rush to conclusions. Let the data speak first, and see whether real money actually moves in response to the news.
