🇭🇰 $SOL Spot ETF officially lists, but price drops nearly 5%: Have the gains already been priced in?
The Pando Solana ETF (2831) officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today, giving investors a new way to gain exposure to SOL through a regulated securities market.
But the market didn’t greet this positive news with a rally.
SOL is currently around $105.7, down about 5% in 24 hours, trading in a range of $102.2–$111.3. By comparison, BTC is down about 0.3% and ETH about 2.2% over the same period. SOL’s steeper decline shows that the ETF listing has so far failed to offset broader risk aversion and selling pressure.
There are three common misconceptions to watch out for:
❌ ETF listing = an equal amount of money immediately buys SOL
✅ Secondary-market trading does not mean net fund inflows. Watch whether the number of ETF units and net asset value continue to rise.
❌ Officially reported 8.2 million units outstanding = 8.2 million SOL held
✅ This is the number of ETF units, not the amount of SOL held.
❌ SOL exposure through the ETF = staking rewards, too
✅ 2831 may invest up to 100% of its net asset value directly in SOL, but official documents clearly state that it does not stake.
The issuer’s page has yet to fully update the first-day closing price, NAV, and total assets, so there is not yet enough evidence to confirm significant net inflows today.
Watch these three levels next:
1️⃣ $106–$107
SOL needs to reclaim this near-term range to show that buyers are indeed stepping in around $102.
2️⃣ $110–$111.3
A move back above this range and a sustained hold would indicate that selling pressure from the listing day has been absorbed. Otherwise, the rebound may simply be a recovery after a steep decline.
3️⃣ $102.2
This is the latest 24-hour low. If SOL breaks below it on high volume, the psychological $100 level will become the next line of defense.
In addition, SOL perpetual futures trading volume is about 23.8 times spot volume. When derivatives trading far exceeds spot trading, short-term prices may still be driven by leverage. An ETF headline does not automatically provide price support.
An ETF offers a long-term gateway for capital; it does not guarantee a rise on listing day. The real answer will come once fund units, NAV, and subsequent subscription data are updated.
Do you think this is a classic case of “buy the rumor, sell the news,” or an opportunity to build a position above $100?
