Why are Ethereum gas fees split into a base fee and a tip? Many people can't answer!
The base fee is burned entirely and doesn't go to the validator who produces the block; only the priority fee goes to the validator who includes the transaction.
The more congested the network, the more the base fee rises, and the more ETH gets burned. Comparing the amount burned with the amount newly issued determines whether ETH's supply increases or decreases during that period.
Understanding how it works can help you avoid pitfalls, but it can't replace risk management.
