Another warning sign from institutional funds! 📉 On October 12, spot ETFs for BTC, ETH, and SOL all recorded net outflows, totaling approximately $151.5 million across the three categories.
The most noteworthy figure wasn’t Bitcoin, but Ethereum—with daily outflows reaching $85.4 million, more than BTC.

🔥 A look at fund flows across the three ETFs:
🔻 ETH: $85.4 million in net outflows, about 56% of the total across all three categories.
🔻 BTC: $65.4 million in net outflows, about 43%.
🔻 SOL: Approximately $700,000 in net outflows, a relatively small amount.
These figures show that spot ETFs for all three assets faced outflow pressure that day, with ETH experiencing the largest redemptions.

👀 Why pay attention to ETF flows?
Spot ETFs are one of the key ways traditional investors participate in the crypto market. Sustained inflows generally indicate growing demand for the relevant investment products; conversely, net outflows mean more money was withdrawn from funds than was newly invested that day.

However, ETF outflows don’t mean institutions have turned bearish across the board, nor do they mean prices will necessarily fall by a corresponding amount. Daily figures can be affected by short-term position adjustments, profit-taking, or shifts in risk appetite. What really matters is the direction of flows over the next few trading days.

📌 Watch for three key signals next:
First, can BTC ETFs return to net inflows? If funds continue to flow out, Bitcoin’s rebound may lack some institutional demand support.
Second, will ETH ETF outflows continue to grow? ETH had the largest outflow that day, so it’s worth watching closely to see whether flows stabilize.
Third, will SOL ETFs see consecutive days of outflows? The amount was relatively small for now, but more data is needed to confirm a trend.
