What does that tell us?
It means retail traders saw the price drop to around 2,500 and rushed in to buy the dip.
This is the classic trap of human nature.
People always think that after such a big drop, a rebound is bound to come, so they go long like crazy.
But in this market, you have to do the opposite.
The more crowded retail traders get, and the more longs there are, the less likely shady market makers are to push prices up.
They’re not running a charity—why would they let those 65% of traders make money?
The answer is simple: those longs are just fuel. The market makers will keep driving the price down until they’ve liquidated every last one of them.
Now look at the bearish signals: spot Ethereum ETFs saw net outflows of $542 million last week, with BlackRock alone seeing $477 million leave.
On-chain activity is even more brutal: a wallet linked to the Ethereum Foundation transferred 4,393 ETH to an exchange, and Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, transferred 2,160 ETH as well.
Institutions are pulling out, whales are fleeing, and the buying pressure has dried up.
The price is now grinding around 2,500, with all the moving averages looming overhead, and each rebound is weaker than the last.
This kind of repeated erosion is likely to end with one huge red candle crashing straight through 2,400.
I’m still holding my short position from 2,707. Whether profits have pulled back or there’s a sudden wick, I’m not budging.
Because I know this playbook all too well: until retail traders are desperate, the real bottom won’t come.
Don’t catch the falling knife. Don’t buy the dip. Shorting with the trend is the way to go.
