$XMR has something going on.

On the 15m chart, volume came in at more than 2x and pushed price higher. It closed by clearing the upper end of the range from nearly 20 5m candles, while the OI anomaly percentile hit 95.2%—6th across the entire pool. Price is rising and OI is rising with it: that looks like new leveraged longs entering, not the fleeting pop you get from short covering.

The interesting part is that the short-term taker buy/sell ratio is only 0.99, and the taker volume delta is still negative. That suggests this move wasn’t driven by market buyers chasing price upward; it looks more like resting orders are being gradually eaten through, with new positions joining in as it happens. The 1h OI notional change is still positive, too, and the anomaly has persisted for several consecutive periods. That kind of structure is more solid than a single big green candle.

Spot 24h volume is just over 32M—not top-tier liquidity in the pool. But that’s exactly why it’s worth watching: OI activity surging into the top ranks across the pool despite that depth. The Z-score is 1.6, not yet at an extreme, but it may be just one push away from the threshold.

For now, I’m watching two things: whether price holds above the range, and whether OI keeps following. If price consolidates while OI quietly keeps building, that could be the fuse for the next leg. If OI retreats first and price stalls, longs may be getting crowded, so watch out for a sharp wick. No chasing—I’ll wait for it to show its hand.
