$BTC charted a move of its own today: South Korea’s KOSPI plunged more than 6%, and Samsung and SK Hynix each fell 8%, while it bounced in a V-shaped recovery from below $81,000 to above $83,500, decoupling from Asia-Pacific tech stocks.

The early-morning fear that $80,000 would give way didn’t materialize, and this rebound doesn’t look like mere short covering—the price didn’t fall alongside the stock market, suggesting there was genuine buying around $81,000. Of course, $7.27 million in short liquidations over four hours also gave it a boost, so short covering did play a part.

$ETH and $XRP have also bounced from multi-day lows, making this a broad-based recovery across the market. But don’t celebrate just yet: $84,231 is the 24-hour high and the level where it lost $83,000 yesterday. That’s where the bears have dug in. Oil is still hovering above $92, and U.S. CPI is due tomorrow, so the macro headwinds haven’t cleared.

So, for now: decoupling is a positive sign, but unless it can break through $84,231, the market is still range-bound. There’s no rush to turn bullish—wait for a high-volume breakout above $84,500. A drop back below $82,000 would mean the decoupling has failed, bringing $80,000 back into view.
