📰 Blur announced that it will shut down its website frontend on November 12, and its lending protocol Blend will stop matching new loans on the same day. The protocol contracts will remain on-chain, but for most everyday users, the usual entry point will be gone, making things considerably less convenient in practice.
🔥 More urgently, existing borrowers on Blend need to repay their loans before the deadline or risk default and liquidation. Community members are already pushing to move the debt to Gondi, GrailsOTC is offering refinancing and migration options, and the official ApeCoin account has also shared the proposal. If you have a loan, figuring out your repayment deadline matters more than following the debate.

💡 This looks more like a “soft shutdown”: people who know how to work with smart contracts can still interact directly with the on-chain protocol, but everyday users typically rely on the frontend. Once it’s gone, both access to transactions and retail user activity could decline. And the fee switch the team has kept in place is only meaningful if there’s actual trading activity.

👀 This isn’t the first time the Pacman team has scaled back. In early October, Blast announced it was shutting down, citing operating costs that exceeded revenue and an unsustainable business model. Now Blur is also taking down its frontend. Taken together, these moves suggest the team is stepping away from costly-to-maintain apps and operations while leaving the protocols on-chain.
⚠️ If you’ve used Blur, don’t focus only on moving your debt. The post notes that after the website shuts down, its domain could be taken over and used for phishing, so revoking related approvals is something to handle now. Do you still have an outstanding loan on Blend, or have you already started arranging a migration?
