Breaking down the futures market: volume, price, levels

Before price speaks, leverage should stay quiet.

Futures only care about three sets of numbers. Everything else is noise.

1. BTC 83600, 24h 81034-84352, change -0.39%.
2. BTC open interest notional: $7.81 billion, 24h -0.82%
3. Account long/short ratio: 1.38

My take: Funding at 0.0067% is close to zero, and the long/short ratio is 1.38. Leverage hasn't picked a side. If it hasn't picked a side, don't use high leverage to pick one for it.

Execution range (based on current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Breakout zone: only consider chasing after it holds above 84,269; below that, it's a false breakout
- Buy the pullback: 82,597-83,099; don't buy if it loses this range
- No-trade zone: if the 1h candle closes below 82,096, skip this trade

My position: watching from the sidelines. Price hasn't picked a side, and leverage hasn't committed either. Opening a position now would be working for the exchange.

If memes aren't outperforming BTC, are you still holding them?

Useful tip: Looking only at the number of accounts in the long/short ratio can be misleading; the large-trader position ratio is a better gauge of actual crowding.
Idea: When funding turns positive and the long/short ratio is >1.15, note that the market is crowded first—don't write down “chase the rally.”
