ByteDance Seed has set up a new Seed Model-Alignment & Preparedness department, according to an internal email sent recently. According to ChainCatcher, Yan Lin will lead the unit and report to Wu Yonghui, head of Seed.

The former Responsible AI team and some members of the Chat team will be moved into the new department. The unit is intended to increase investment in safety and alignment, with a focus on keeping model behavior aligned with human intent and safety constraints, improving Agent Model safety capabilities, and reducing risks tied to advanced capabilities in chemistry, biology, radiological, and nuclear areas.
