What does a DEX aggregator do?
An aggregator usually doesn’t provide liquidity itself; it simply routes trades through the pools of various DEXs to complete swaps. 1inch’s routing algorithm is called Pathfinder, and it balances the swap price against gas fees.
The liquidity in any single pool is limited. Splitting a large swap across multiple pools reduces the price impact on each pool, usually resulting in a better overall execution price.
On Ethereum, when you swap through an aggregator, gas is paid with $ETH ; $1INCH is 1inch’s governance token. Currently 2492.34.
