Blur will take its website offline on November 12; don’t wait for a new tool to handle Blend loans

If you still have a loan on Blend, check your repayment obligations and collateral first. Don’t wait until the website shuts down to look for an access point. The on-chain protocol continuing to run does not mean the original website will remain available, much less that your debt will automatically disappear.

In its October 12 announcement, Blur made clear that it will disable its website frontend on November 12, 2026, while the NFT trading protocol will continue to run on-chain. Blend will stop matching new loans on the same day. Borrowers must repay their loans before then or face the consequences of default. The Block subsequently reported on this arrangement.

The team also promised to provide an asset withdrawal tool after that date. This tool will be a way to access the platform later—not an extension of the repayment deadline, nor a guarantee that every borrower’s collateral will automatically be returned to them.

Why isn’t it enough to say “the protocol is still running”? In Blend’s original design, published by Paradigm in May 2023, lenders can initiate refinancing auctions. If no one takes over the loan, the borrower may be liquidated and the lender may take the collateral. This is background on how the mechanism works; it does not mean that every loan has already entered liquidation.

So if you have a loan, first check each debt, its interest, and the status of its collateral on the official website, then decide what to do. Lenders should check their loans and the assets they can withdraw. Don’t treat “a tool will be available in the future” as proof that you have already exited, and don’t use links in private messages claiming to offer an “urgent migration.”

Over the next week, I’ll watch for official details on the withdrawal tool, including its scope and exact timing. I’ll continue checking for changes to the arrangements up to November 12. I’ll lower the exit risk only once the withdrawal route for the relevant assets and their on-chain receipt can both be verified. If access is disabled early, the tool is delayed, or existing loans cannot be handled, I’ll raise the priority of taking action.
