BlackRock turns overweight on short-term bonds for the first time in six years

On October 13, the BlackRock Investment Institute upgraded short-term U.S. Treasuries to overweight and downgraded U.S. stocks from overweight to neutral. The 10-year Treasury yield has climbed from 0.9% in 2020 to over 5.2%, while interest rate swap markets are pricing in at least three rate hikes over the next 12 months.

Money is starting to take shelter in short-term bonds, and high interest rates are weighing on risk assets. I’m leaning defensive in the short term—take profits on any rebound; don’t chase it.
