To be honest, when I first started trading futures, I really liked looking at the long/short ratio. Whenever I saw a high percentage of people going long, I’d follow suit—and ended up getting stopped out by a single wick several times.
I later realized that the long/short ratio tells you which side everyone is on, while the market often likes to move in the opposite direction.
Right now, the platform-wide account long/short ratio is 0.54 at $GTC , meaning there are more shorts. I’ll just use it as a reference.
