📰 Why did Fullgoal meet privately with the SEC? Could tokenized funds be the next big thing?

Fullgoal Fund met with the SEC’s Crypto Task Force last Thursday to discuss how stocks could be traded and redeemed after being turned into blockchain tokens. The goal isn’t just to let investors buy and sell stock tokens directly—it’s also to figure out who can charge fees and how prices should be set. Put simply, they want to know whether “stock funds on the blockchain can legally take off.” This is a major signal for institutions looking to issue stock tokens.

Why does this news matter?
Why has Fullgoal’s move suddenly caught regulators’ attention? The main reason is that selling stocks through traditional funds is cumbersome, while tokenization could save a lot of money. For example, if Fullgoal wants to sell shares, it first has to prepare physical stock certificates; with tokenization, it could simply transfer digital tokens. This means regulators need to give these new types of funds the green light—or a lot of capital could flow into this more efficient format. This isn’t closely tied to other recent events, but it does show that regulators are beginning to seriously examine this business model.

Impact on the market
In the short term, this could fuel speculation around stock tokens, but over the long term, it will still depend on whether there’s genuine market demand. If tokenized funds can really make money, capital could shift away from ETFs and traditional funds, with a greater impact on ETH ($2,502.25), since the price of ETH ($83,052.54) is relatively less volatile. The regulatory environment is indeed becoming more relaxed, but change won’t happen all at once, and capital flows won’t reverse overnight. Historical examples are limited, but Bitcoin ETF approval in 2018 also involved discussions before approval.

Trading strategy
I think this is a medium-term positive. ETH ($2,502.25) could see a short-term bounce on speculation, but it’s unlikely to break down. If BNB ($747.62) can hold above 740, ETH may face resistance around 2,600. If regulators suddenly change their stance again, this view no longer applies.
