$NEAR 24h is down 14.3% to 5.08. Gate perpetuals hit a daily high of 6.03 and a low of 5.01, with an intraday range of about 20% and roughly 76.5 million U in volume. BTC is around 81,875 (-2.2%) over the same period, so NEAR’s drop is more than six times BTC’s.

Price action: After touching 6.03 at noon yesterday, it kept stepping down, dropping to 5.60 at 19:00 and plunging to 5.36 at midnight. The sharpest move came at 5 a.m. today: about 8.51 million U in one hour drove it from 5.36 to 5.01, the largest hourly volume of the day. It rebounded between 6 and 7 a.m. but couldn’t even hold 5.22. Now it’s hovering at 5.08, near the daily low.

Reason: BTC breaking below 82,000 was the trigger, but NEAR has fallen much further on its own. Funding is still +0.0376% (8h). Longs are still paying despite the price continuing to fall, suggesting dip-buying longs haven’t fully capitulated—there may be more fuel for a cascade.

My trade: Bearish, but I won’t chase. I’ll look to short a rebound to 5.20–5.25, with a stop at 5.40. First target is the 5.00 level; if it breaks, then 4.85. If it plunges straight through 5.00, don’t chase at market—wait for a bounce. If it gets back above 5.40, I’ll close the short.
