Reading net outflows from Ethereum spot ETFs as “institutions have abandoned it” mistakes a sector-wide pullback for an Ethereum-only story.

💰 Will Ethereum move on its own? Join the group and take a closer look.

During last week’s trading days, from October 5 to October 9 ET, most spot ETFs saw outflows in tandem: Bitcoin had net outflows of $681 million, ending three consecutive weeks of net inflows; SOL had net outflows of $24.8109 million, and HYPE had net outflows of $9.4269 million.

Ethereum’s $542 million was just one part of that broader outflow trend. Data from SoSoValue.

The only one moving against the trend was $XRP , with net inflows of $11.3068 million.

To overturn the interpretation that “institutions are pulling out of Ethereum,” the key is to watch for divergence: if Bitcoin and Ethereum both turn positive next week, then this week was a sector-wide pullback; only if Ethereum continues to see redemptions while Bitcoin holds steady would that suggest investors are pricing Ethereum on its own.

For now, the outflows aren’t moving independently.
