14-week inflow streak ends: U.S. spot SOL ETFs see $24.8 million in outflows last week

U.S. spot $SOL ETFs recorded $24.8 million in net outflows during the week of October 5–9, ending their 14-week streak of consecutive inflows. It was also the largest single-week redemption these products have seen since launching in late October last year.

What’s interesting is how concentrated the outflows were: Bitwise’s BSOL alone accounted for $20.9 million, or about 84% of the total, while Morgan Stanley’s MSOL and Invesco’s QSOL each saw small net inflows over the same period. In other words, this looks more like one large holder rebalancing than a sector-wide exodus.

The outflows were nowhere near large enough to shake the foundations: they amounted to just 0.04% of $SOL ’s roughly $64.9 billion market cap—not even a ripple. The three crypto ETF groups saw a combined $1.25 billion in outflows last week, with $BTC ETFs shedding $681 million and $ETH ETFs $542 million. The main driver was macro-level risk aversion (CPI data is due tomorrow), not a shift in $SOL ’s fundamentals.

The signal really worth watching is in the Eastern Hemisphere: today (October 13), Pando Finance’s spot Solana ETF will list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (2831.HK), making it Hong Kong’s second spot SOL ETF after ChinaAMC’s launch last October. Its structure differs significantly from U.S. products: BSOL stakes about 99% of its assets to earn yield, while Pando’s ETF explicitly does not stake and offers pure price exposure.

On one side, the West’s largest SOL ETF is seeing rebalancing-driven redemptions; on the other, the East’s second product is making its first-day debut. Two capital-flow signals, on the same day, for the same asset. $SOL is currently trading around $110, down about 8% for the week and still 58% below its all-time high of $262. Key things to watch next: whether U.S. redemptions are a one-week event or a sustained trend, whether other products beyond BSOL can make up the shortfall, and how strong subscriptions are on the Hong Kong ETF’s first day of trading today.
