Odaily Planet Daily reports: Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress, entities affiliated with the U.S. political action committee Fairshake, have spent a combined $2.7 million supporting Democratic and Republican candidates running for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2026. The spending took place 22 days before the U.S. midterm elections.
The spending included more than $76,000 on ads supporting House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and $73,000 supporting House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn Thompson. California Representative Pete Aguilar and New Jersey Representative Josh Gottheimer received $512,000 and $500,000 in support, respectively.
A few days ago, Fairshake announced plans to support another 32 House candidates in 2026, with six of them each receiving $1 million in supportive media spending. As of August, Fairshake held $122 million in cash and planned to spend at least $30 million on media opposing Sherrod Brown’s Senate campaign in Ohio.
All of the candidates mentioned above voted in 2025 in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act). The bill aims to establish rules for the structure of cryptocurrency markets and expand the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) regulatory enforcement powers, but it failed to pass a Senate procedural vote in September.
