Odaily Planet Daily reports: In Chapter 3 of its October 2026 Global Financial Stability Report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that as of July 31, the value of tokenized real-world assets, excluding repurchase agreements and stablecoins, was approximately $65.1 billion. This included $30.4 billion in tokenized credit, $17.5 billion in money market funds, and $2.3 billion in tokenized equities.
The report said that automated liquidations, instant settlement, continuous trading, and programmable collateral could accelerate forced liquidations and amplify financial shocks during periods of market stress. Reusing collateral across platforms could also increase leverage, allowing risks to spread more quickly across institutions and markets.
The IMF identified legal certainty, regulatory clarity, interoperability between blockchain networks, and reliable settlement assets as four obstacles to wider adoption of tokenized markets. It recommended technology-neutral regulation, stronger oversight, circuit breakers, and safeguards against instability caused by automated liquidations. (Bitcoin.com News)
