Many DApps request unlimited approvals by default. These approvals remain valid indefinitely unless you revoke them yourself.
Many token theft incidents don't require your recovery phrase at all; scammers only need to trick you into signing an approval, and then they can drain your tokens.
If someone says you need to transfer funds first to unfreeze them, it's almost certainly a scam.
