Crypto | Tomorrow’s Outlook | October 13
BTC has been flat around 83,000 for three days. ETH was in the green on its own for a few hours, but altcoins have already started turning on each other. I’ve seen this kind of fake calm too many times: first it lures you in, then it dumps.
The more I look at today’s data, the more something feels off:
BTC: 82612, 24-hour change: -0.58%
It looks like it’s only down half a percent, but it fell from 84,300 to 82,300—a 2,000-dollar intraday range. A red daily candle with big swings and low volume: anyone who’s traded futures knows the drill. Bulls and bears are both waiting for the other side to make the first move, while retail traders have been churned up over and over.
ETH: 2526, up 0.81% against the trend
This is the only signal that caught my eye today. The ETH/BTC exchange rate has been sliding steadily, but ETH held firm today, which suggests big money is quietly rotating positions. But I’m not chasing it—for reasons I’ll get to later.
SOL: 108.9, down 0.74%
The drop isn’t severe, but the chart structure has already weakened. It didn’t even reach the previous high of 113.38. Support around 108 barely held today. If it falls further, 105 is the psychological level; if that breaks, 100 comes into view.
What has me most on alert is the altcoin market:
GTC +60%, RSR +47%, W +35% near the top of the gainers list—looks exciting, right? But I got burned by that kind of move back in May. Tokens pumped on 7-day momentum and high turnover are bait in eight cases out of ten. GTC made the gainers list today, and based on past data, there’s a good chance it gives back more than half its gains tomorrow.
The losers are even uglier: BOME -25%, STRK -19%, LUMIA -18%. Money is pulling out of meme coins and high-FDV sectors decisively. This isn’t a correction; it’s a rotation.
There’s an unusual signal in the news: Grayscale and Canary Capital’s SUI ETFs both launched, yet SUI itself fell 6%—a classic case of buying the rumor and selling the news. The ETF catalyst landed, but the price got dumped anyway, which suggests institutions aren’t using this as their valuation anchor for SUI. TON’s cross-chain wallet upgrade is similar: Telegram’s ecosystem narrative has been played for three years already, and this time I’m choosing not to buy it.
But my watchlist of slow grinders gives me a little hope: tokens like JUP, IMX, and TIA have been grinding sideways for nearly a month or two, and today’s consolidation signals look steady. Last week I placed an order for a starter position in JUP around 0.34 (don’t follow me—just noting it for the record). If ETH can really lift sentiment, these laggards could have room to catch up.
My strategy for tomorrow: lean bearish, but don’t chase:
- BTC: Watch 82000. If it breaks, don’t catch the dip; wait to scale in between 80000 and 81000. If it holds, sit tight and stay away from leverage.
- ETH: 2520 is daily support. If it breaks, watch 2400. Resistance is strong between 2570 and 2600; reduce your position if it gets there.
- SOL: 105 is likely to break, with 100 next in view. If you want to trade a bounce, wait until it’s below 103.
There are three macro things to watch this week:
1. How Friday’s U.S. stock rebound carries over into Monday’s Asian session. Nasdaq futures are up for now, but the old script of opening high and fading is still in play.
2. Expectations around the CPI data that may come out Tuesday.
3. The pace of capital rotation during altcoin season—if ETH holds up, there’s still a chance of rotation.
One last thing: the market can prove any forecast wrong, including mine. Last month, I got slapped for being too bullish on ETH. So this time, my rule is to keep positions small, test the waters, and get out if I’m wrong.
One question for you: are you planning to go all-in tomorrow, or are you staying on the sidelines and watching? Let me know in the comments—I’m curious to see how everyone’s positioned.
