When asked, “Why should mainnet trust that the results submitted by a Rollup are correct?”
I usually answer like this: An Optimistic Rollup initially assumes that the submitted results are correct. During the challenge period, anyone can submit a fraud proof to challenge them. The idea behind fraud proofs is: “Assume it’s correct first, then investigate if someone raises an objection.” As long as one honest participant is online and challenges it in time, an incorrect result can’t slip through.
