The total market capitalization of tokenized stocks has surpassed $3.9 billion. Is blockchain rewriting traditional stock markets?
According to data from Token Terminal cited by Binance News, the total market capitalization of the global tokenized stock market has climbed to a record high of $3.9 billion. BNB Chain accounts for about $1.2 billion, Ethereum for about $841.9 million, and Solana for about $741.7 million. Together, the three chains make up around 71% of the entire market.
This means traditional financial assets such as stocks and ETFs are gaining new ways to trade through blockchain. In theory, tokenization could make asset transfers more flexible and potentially enable longer trading hours and faster settlement.
But don’t assume that traditional stock markets have moved fully on-chain just because the figure has reached $3.9 billion. The current market is still small compared with the global stock market as a whole, and some tokenized stocks do not grant holders the rights of traditional shareholders. The factors that will truly determine whether this sector can continue to grow are regulation, asset custody, liquidity, and user demand.
Do you think tokenized stocks will be the next breakout area for RWA, or are they still mostly a new concept being hyped by the market?
