According to CNBC, federal authorities on Monday morning raided the Washington, D.C., area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, as part of a criminal fraud investigation into immigration paperwork filled out by her father. Homeland Security Investigations, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, carried out the raid, Fox News reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. The Department of Justice said in a statement to Fox News that Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the department and that the action is part of an ongoing federal investigation. Omar, who was born in Somalia and brought to the United States as a child, has been a target of criticism by President Donald Trump. The raid came less than a month before November's midterm elections, and Omar is seeking another term as a representative for Minnesota's Fifth District.
