This is a general announcement. The products and services mentioned here may not be available in your region. This announcement applies ONLY to users in Brazil.
Dear Binancers,
To meet local regulatory requirements, Binance will introduce a risk profile assessment (suitability assessment) for users in Brazil. This change follows Resolution BCB No. 520/2025 of the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB), which requires virtual asset service providers to understand each client’s level of familiarity with the virtual asset market, financial interests, and risk tolerance.
Starting October 30, 2026, users will be asked to complete a brief risk profile assessment. If they choose to use a product with a risk level above their profile, they will need to confirm a risk acknowledgment before proceeding.
Who Is Affected
All Binance users in Brazil, both individuals and legal entities. Qualified or professional investors are not exempt. For corporate accounts, the company’s legal representative will complete the assessment.
Required Actions
New users: They will need to complete the assessment during account opening.
Existing users: Starting October 30, 2026, they will see a pop-up asking them to complete the assessment and will have 30 days to do so. After that period, completing the assessment will become mandatory.
The assessment has four questions and takes about one minute to complete. We recommend that users complete it as soon as possible. Users who have already completed the investor profile for US Stocks do not need to complete it again.
Risk Profiles and Product Classifications
Based on their answers, users are classified as Conservative, Moderate, or Aggressive. Binance products are classified as low, medium, or high risk based on the potential for loss and their complexity. Low-risk products are suitable for all profiles, medium-risk products for Moderate and Aggressive profiles, and high-risk products only for the Aggressive profile.
Using Products Above Your Profile
Users may use products with a risk level above their profile. After the suitability assessment, they will see a risk warning and must confirm a risk acknowledgment, stating that they understand certain products are not suitable for their profile and that they accept the risks involved, including the possibility of substantial or total loss. Binance recommends that users seek independent financial advice. This acknowledgment is requested only once.
What Happens if the Assessment Is Not Completed
During the 30-day period, users can use their accounts as usual. After that period, completing the suitability questionnaire will become mandatory.
Updating Your Profile
Users can retake the assessment at any time, up to three times every 12 months. Every 24 months, they will also be invited to review their answers.
The assessment, profile, and any risk acknowledgments are recorded and made available to the Central Bank of Brazil, as required by regulations. Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure compliance while maintaining a seamless experience for all users.
