After watching Armani Ferrante's talk at TOKEN2049, I think the most exciting thing to watch from @Backpack is the bigger path it wants to take: bringing CeFi, DeFi, and TradFi together on a single platform.
Rather than building out products separately in different regions, the goal is to connect markets such as International, Japan, Europe, and the US through a unified platform, giving users access to a wider range of financial services within one ecosystem.
If this vision can gradually become reality, I think there are several things to look forward to.
1️⃣ Integrated accounts could help users make their capital work more efficiently
If trading, wallets, and different types of assets can work together more seamlessly, users won't have to keep switching between multiple platforms, and both asset management and the trading experience could improve.
2️⃣ Regulatory compliance could open the door to traditional capital
For the crypto industry to go further, regulatory compliance is an unavoidable hurdle.
Backpack continues to build compliant businesses across different markets. If it can connect with traditional financial services in the future, it could attract more institutions and traditional investors.
3️⃣ Real US stocks and Solana could create new synergies
If trading real US stocks can be more seamlessly connected with tokenized securities on Solana, this could bring more asset types, trading demand, and liquidity on-chain.
This would not just be an expansion of Backpack's products; it could also create new opportunities for growth in Solana's RWA sector.
4️⃣ From exchange to financial infrastructure
When you're just an exchange, competition often comes down to fees, liquidity, and product experience. But if Backpack can connect its exchange, wallet, securities services, and DeFi, it would offer more than just a gateway to trading—it would provide a more complete financial services ecosystem.
Users would have access to more assets and a wider range of use cases, while the platform's competitive boundaries would expand accordingly. A token launch may be just one milestone; what's really worth watching is whether Backpack can build this financial infrastructure for the long term.
If this path works out, the beneficiaries may not be just Backpack itself, but the entire Solana ecosystem.
