SWI Group announced on October 12 that it had completed an €800 million (approximately $894 million) institutional funding round, valuing the company at around €6.1 billion post-money. It has raised more than €1 billion in total since March 2026. The company’s subsidiary, former FTX-linked Bitcoin miner Genesis Digital Assets (renamed SWI Digital), plans to convert its sites in Texas, North and South Carolina, and Sweden into AI computing and data centers, and sell its mining assets in Kazakhstan.

Alameda had invested more than $1 billion in Genesis. In June this year, SWI acquired an approximately 40% stake for around $500 million, and in August obtained roughly 70% of the voting rights. The CEO has publicly stated that he has “zero interest” in Bitcoin mining. Proceeds from this funding round will be used to expand power and computing capacity on both sides of the Atlantic. Several publicly listed mining companies are also repurposing their facilities and power connections for AI hosting, replacing volatile $BTC mining revenue with more stable computing contracts.
