The hardware wallet I received came with a card printed with a seed phrase. Can I use it?
My understanding is that a hardware wallet protects your private keys from being stolen online. If you approve a transaction on the device yourself, it will still sign it as instructed.
A reputable hardware wallet generates the seed phrase automatically on the device during initial setup; it won’t come pre-printed in the packaging.
What I do: I only use the brand’s official software to update the firmware, and never click update links in emails or text messages.
$BTC , which I plan to hold for the long term, is often kept in a hardware wallet. Transaction signing takes place on the device.
