Guys, I’ll keep following the crypto payments discussion. I’m bullish on BTC over the long term, but let’s distinguish payment tools from asset allocation first!

#Argentina’sCentralBankDoesNotBringCryptoIntoBankPayments

The crypto asset information on the Central Bank of Argentina’s website reviews relevant restrictions on banks and payment account service providers. These rules have a history, so requirements introduced earlier shouldn’t all be described as new bans today.

My new angle is to distinguish between different functions: buying assets, transferring assets, and using them to pay merchants are separate needs. Restricting one payment channel can add friction, but it doesn’t automatically eliminate the other two types of demand.

So I remain bullish on BTC’s long-term outlook, based on the possibility that demand for its functionality will persist. We can’t claim that policy restrictions mean its price is bound to rise. ETH’s specific use cases likewise depend on which services are available. If friction at the point of access continues to increase, expectations for the pace of adoption should be lowered.
