[Definition] What is open interest (OI)?
Every open contract corresponds to one long and one short, so the total number of long positions and short positions across the entire market is always equal.
An increase in open interest only means that more positions have been opened in contracts. It doesn’t show whether bulls or bears are stronger, since every new position always has someone going long and someone going short.

When trading contracts, set your stop-loss first, then think about your returns.
