If a wave of withdrawals crosses borders, the financial system still has no safety net in place.

According to BlockTempo, Financial Stability Board (FSB) Chair Bailey issued an open letter ahead of the G20 meeting on Thursday. A survey found that only 11 of the 28 jurisdictions surveyed worldwide had completed stablecoin regulation, with nearly 70% lagging behind. Officials are concerned that large-scale redemptions could force the sale of reserve U.S. Treasuries, potentially affecting banks’ liquidity.

Stablecoins are the market’s most important medium of exchange. According to Binance spot market data, BTC is currently consolidating around $83,500. If cross-border settlement windows tighten, the cost of moving funds will rise directly.

My view: Keep a close eye on the G20 communiqué after Thursday’s meeting. A liquidity discount will only emerge if it includes a specific timeline for restrictions on cross-border stablecoins; if it is merely an initiative, the impact on market prices will be limited.
