My buddy asked me: “Can we buy the dip at $SOL this week?” I said: “Let’s check this week’s calendar before deciding.”

My buddy: “Anything major happening this week?”
Me: “Two things. Wednesday (October 14): U.S. September CPI, expected at 3.7%—it’ll directly shape rate-cut expectations. And on Friday, options worth a notional $1.25 billion expire, which could amplify volatility.”

My buddy: “What about SOL?”
Me: “$111.24 (+1.1%), but it’s down 8.2% over the past 7 days, and SOL ETFs are still seeing outflows. Put simply, the fundamentals haven’t improved. Buying the dip means trying to catch a falling knife.”

My buddy: “So what should I do?”
Me: “Don’t make a big directional bet before CPI. The volatility on the day the data comes out is the real opportunity—when the direction is unclear, staying in the game matters more than making a quick buck.”
