HKEX sets its sights on extending the night session

On October 12, HKEX Chief Executive Bonnie Y Chan wrote in a blog post that the exchange is studying whether to extend trading hours for its derivatives night session. Extending the stock market’s hours is being discussed first, but no additional funding allocation has been announced.

Longer derivatives night-session hours would mean more hedging activity during Asian trading hours, siphoning off some of the liquidity from 24-hour crypto contracts during the Hong Kong and U.S. stock markets’ nighttime hours. Volatility could also become concentrated in this period.

If the night session really is extended, would you dare leave a 5x leveraged contract open at 2 a.m.?
