Someone asked: What exactly is the EVM, and what does “EVM-compatible” mean?
Here’s how I usually explain it: The EVM is a stack-based virtual machine. Each data unit (word) is 256 bits, and the stack can hold up to 1,024 items. The EVM charges Gas for each instruction. When a transaction runs out of Gas, execution stops and all state changes are reverted, preventing infinite loops from freezing the entire network.
