France has just backed a proposal requiring crypto wallets holding assets worth $112,000 or more to be declared, including both self-custody and cold wallets. Fines could reach €10,000, with an additional progressive penalty of 10% to 40% for deliberate tax evasion.
The regulation is aimed squarely at crypto whales in Europe, raising concerns about privacy and the risk of personal data leaks. Even so, the market hasn’t gone into a panic sell-off. At the time of writing, $BTC is still holding at $84,096.6 (+1.34%), while $ETH is holding at $2,565.74.
My experience: the crowd can easily panic over regulatory FUD, but big players rarely sell emotionally. For those of you trading futures, this kind of news can easily create a two-sided liquidation sweep before prices rebound — I’m not rushing into a trade until the candle clearly confirms its close direction.
