BTC may not fear bad news this time—instead, it may fear one “surprise” even more!
There’s an interesting phenomenon in crypto.
Sometimes good news comes out and prices don’t rise; bad news lands and the market starts to rebound.
Why?
Because the market doesn’t just trade on the news itself—it trades on the gap between the news and expectations.
BTC came under pressure last week, while altcoins performed even worse. Now everyone is waiting for U.S. inflation data, trying to figure out what the Fed will do next.
But I think the real thing to watch isn’t whether the CPI number comes in a little higher or lower.
It’s whether the market reprices interest rate expectations after the data is released.
Inflation coming in milder than expected doesn’t mean BTC will definitely rise; inflation exceeding expectations doesn’t mean the market will inevitably crash.
What matters is how the dollar, Treasury yields, and risk assets react.
The longer I’ve been in crypto, the less I like betting on a single news event in advance.
Because the easiest time to lose money is often when everyone thinks they’ve correctly predicted the direction.
The market is especially good at making people who get the news right make the wrong trade.
Instead of guessing whether prices will rise or fall this week, watch where the money actually goes after the data comes out.
