After Pudgy Penguins team’s Ethereum L2 network Abstract announced it would shut down in December, early airdrop-farming users demanded direct compensation with $PENGU .

Over the past two years, Abstract rewarded early users with XP points, which could have been exchanged for a native token. The team said the network failed to find product-market fit and would no longer issue a token after shutting down. GM Capital founder Charles Moscoe publicly called for the unreleased $PENGU to be distributed to XP users — the total supply of $PENGU is 88.88 billion, of which about 26 billion (about $212 million) has not yet been unlocked. Amid the controversy, $PENGU fell about 2%, possibly declining to $0.0076; however, the Pudgy Penguins NFT community generally opposed the compensation demand.
