The price action of $ZEC lately has been insane. After getting hammered yesterday, plunging from the $1,300 range to below $1,112, it’s now slowly climbing back to around $1,280.

Interestingly, Binance Futures data shows some rather unusual dynamics. This price increase is happening while Open Interest (OI) for $ZEC has actually fallen by around 2.7% to roughly 468,000 ZEC. On top of that, most accounts (around 58.7%) are still confidently choosing Short positions.

What does that mean? There’s a good chance this rise is being driven by short covering—sellers are panicking and being forced to buy back their positions as the price starts to reverse. So, pure buying or fresh capital entering through Futures hasn’t really shown up in a big way yet.

But fundamentally, $ZEC does have a few things fueling it right now:

– There’s a planned network upgrade (NU7), with the mainnet launch targeted for early November (the final date is set to be decided on October 20). It’s reportedly intended to shorten block times to 25 seconds.

– Reports say Zakura developers plan to implement post-quantum signature features early next year.

– Meanwhile, the news of Grayscale ETF outflows early last month and Winklevoss’s filing for a new ETF (WINK) have made the market’s rhythm pretty lively.

Looking at the chart, the $1,295–$1,300 level will be the key line in the sand. If ZEC can break through and stay above $1,300—especially if backed by genuine volume and a sudden rise in OI—the path to $1,350 or even another run at $1,500 becomes more likely.

On the other hand, if it fails to climb and instead corrects below the $1,250–$1,220 range, this immediate recovery structure could fall apart again.

You could say the current outlook is bullish, but comes with plenty of conditions. It’ll be very interesting to watch over the next 2–3 days, especially how the market reacts as it approaches the psychological $1,300 level.
