Who ultimately executes contracts written in Solidity?
My understanding: The EVM charges Gas for each instruction. When the Gas provided for a transaction runs out, it aborts and rolls back any state changes, so an infinite loop can't hold up the entire network.
Ethereum contracts are usually written in Solidity or Vyper, compiled into bytecode, and deployed on-chain, where the EVM executes opcodes one by one.
When you call a contract on Ethereum, the EVM charges Gas for each step based on the instruction, paid using $ETH .
