A $30 billion valuation, and suddenly they remember the old debts

Moonshot AI is in a hurry to IPO in Hong Kong, and its former employer, Recurrent AI, has shown up with a bunch of investors to negotiate a settlement. They no longer recognize the 9.5% stake they got back then, and are now demanding 10.5%. At a $30 billion valuation, that extra percentage point would be worth over $700 million. They’ve also accused Moonshot AI of taking core training data and wiping server databases.

A $700 million bill has materialized out of nowhere in just one year. The investors’ calculators are drawing straighter lines than a market maker’s candlestick chart. In the end, this bill will still be passed on through the IPO pricing to the unlucky souls buying in on the secondary market.
