Let's talk about some personal feelings. In the past, I loved watching the long/short ratio. Whenever I saw a high proportion of longs, I would follow and go long, but more than once I got stopped out by a spike.
Later I understood: the long/short ratio reflects which side everyone is on, while the market often likes to move in the direction with fewer people.
Today $BTC the overall long/short ratio across the internet is 1.41, with longs making up the majority, so I'll take that as a reminder.
