Average annual pay at eight core Japanese semiconductor materials and components companies reached 10.75 million yen in the fiscal year ending March 2026, up 25% from 2021. According to Sina Finance, the increase came as AI investment boosted demand for semiconductor equipment.

The eight companies were Disco, Tokyo Electron, Advantest, Screen Holdings, Rohm, Renesas Electronics, Tokyo Ohka Kogyo, and SUMCO. Their average annual pay was well above the roughly 6 million yen average for listed Japanese companies overall.

Among them, the four equipment makers had average annual pay of 13.59 million yen, higher than the 7.76 million yen average at the two semiconductor device makers and the 8.07 million yen average at the two materials companies. Disco's headquarters average annual pay rose 95% over the past five years to 18.79 million yen.
