The Ethereum scaling landscape is shifting: Optimism will take over Unichain’s underlying operations. According to the migration announcement on October 9, Uniswap Labs’ L2 chain Unichain plans to hand over production-grade sequencing, public node access, onchain monitoring, and incident response to the Optimism team. The testnet migration is scheduled for October 13, with the mainnet migration set for October 29. This continues Optimism’s “infrastructure only” strategy: product teams focus on applications and the ecosystem, while Optimism handles unified operations of the underlying infrastructure. The September agreement with Soneium followed the same model.
