What are “max fee” and “priority fee” in your wallet, and why do you often end up paying less than the limit?
When you send a transaction, you set a max fee and a max priority fee. The actual charge is the base fee plus the priority fee, up to the max fee; any leftover amount isn’t charged.
The max fee shown in your wallet is just a limit. To see how much you actually paid, check the amount shown in a block explorer.
Under EIP-1559, every Ethereum transaction pays a base fee of $ETH , which is burned directly.
