Google has opened its SynthID detector to the public worldwide, allowing anyone to upload images, videos, or audio files to check whether they contain the company’s imperceptible watermark signature. Developed by Google DeepMind since 2023, the tool embeds invisible digital markers in content created with Google’s AI tools.

Google says more than 180 billion images and videos have been watermarked to date, along with the equivalent of 240,000 years of audio content. Verification tools already integrated into Search, Gemini, and Chrome handle more than one million requests per day. The detector currently works only with content generated by Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao, with Apple coming soon, although content from other generators may not be detected. The tool is available only in English, and Google has not disclosed its accuracy rates.
