【NEAR more than doubled in a month, but this time feels different】

Last week, NEAR broke above $5.60, gaining 13% in a week and 127% in a month.

Trading volume has also picked up, exceeding 5% of its market cap—that’s no small move in crypto.

I looked back at the historical data: NEAR is down 72% from its peak and is still in oversold territory. But the question is: Is this rebound driven purely by sentiment, or is there something real behind it?

Here are a few signals I’ve noticed.

NEAR has been investing heavily in the AI + Web3 narrative lately. Its sharding technology gives it a real edge in processing speed, and the number of applications in its ecosystem is growing. But to be honest, based on what I’ve been able to verify, real-world use cases are still concentrated in a handful of DeFi and NFT projects. There’s still a long way to go before “mass adoption.”

Expectations around Federal Reserve policy have eased somewhat recently, and risk appetite among investors is returning. That’s positive for more volatile tokens like NEAR.

But let me pour some cold water on this: a short-term rally this big can’t be driven by fundamentals alone. Sentiment, capital rotation, and leverage in the derivatives market are all adding fuel to the fire.

So what does this mean in practice?

If NEAR’s AI narrative can continue to attract developers and users, the value of its ecosystem should gradually materialize. But if this is just short-term speculation, there’s a good chance of a pullback later.

What I’m watching now is whether NEAR’s ecosystem metrics can keep pace with its price gains. That’s the key to deciding whether it’s worth holding.

Are you bullish on this NEAR rally, or do you think it’s just a short-term opportunity?
