CoinGecko now tracks more than 22,000 coins, but the figure that really caught my attention was what Glassnode revealed: in late September, less than 25% of the supply of the median altcoin was in profit. I think about this contradiction a lot: projects and tokens keep proliferating, but owning one doesn’t necessarily mean its holder is making a profit. To me, the sheer number of coins doesn’t mean opportunities have expanded to the same extent. Instead, it makes it harder to distinguish between a project with real utility and a token that lives on liquidity inflows. And the question that stays with me is: how many of these coins can retain their value when market interest wanes?
